Hire KC Youth is a citywide initiative dedicated to unlocking opportunity and connecting youth to future careers in Kansas City. Our mission is to democratize opportunity by organizing and aligning industry and education systems to develop and deploy innovative, next-generation youth workforce programs.
The KC Social Innovation Center is the managing partner of the Hire KC Youth initiative, in coordination with FEC as the workforce partner. Both agencies utilize their connections to businesses, nonprofits, philanthropy, schools and higher education and workforce agencies to convene, organize and create meaningful opportunities and worksite experiences for the young people in our community; and to provide support and resources for businesses that pledge to hire HKCY summer interns.
The KC Social Innovation Center is a ‘think and do’ tank that collaborates with technology, community, investment, education and business networks to explore and catalyze innovations in education, learning and workforce development. KCSIC is the managing organization of LRNG KC – a digital platform for young people to find, explore and engage in exciting experiences and build meaningful, relevant skills – whether it’s a maker meetup at a hacker space, or a coding event at the local library, or a poetry slam at a nearby coffee shop. LRNG KC offers Kansas City a way to bridge the gap between lack of access and opportunity for our most disengaged and marginalized populations. kcsocialinnovation.org
